Rigger Level III Training program is specifically designed to prepare candidates who currently work in
rigging. This one-day program includes Study Materials, as well as interactive classroom and hands-on
exercises.
A Rigger Level III is a rigger that can successfully demonstrate or have the knowledge of how to inspect
rigging before use, identify and attach rigging with basic knowledge of hitch configurations, recognize
associated hazards, signal operations, and use various types of rigging equipment and basic hitches and
their applications.

What training is required to be a rigger?
In order for a rigger to be considered a qualified rigger, they must meet two primary criteria: They
must have in their possession a recognized degree, certificate, or professional standing, or otherwise
have extensive (and verifiable) knowledge, training, and experience.

What are the duties of a rigger?
Riggers move heavy materials and equipment around worksites using rigging gear such as pulleys, cranes
and winches. They assemble temporary structures like scaffolding on construction sites and move and
assemble pre–cast facades and panels on buildings under construction.

How many types of riggers are there?
Types of rigging. Rigging is divided into two classes, standing, which supports the mast (and bowsprit),
and running, which controls the orientation of the sails and their degree of reefing. Configurations
differ for each type of rigging, between fore-and-aft rigged vessels and square-rigged vessels.

What are basic rigging principles?
The Basic Rigging Principles course will give each student the basic understanding of rigging on
communication structures. This course covers subjects such as Standards, Ropes & Rope Inspection, Sling
Types, Rigging Configurations, Hardware, Load Calculations, Inspections, Center of Gravity and Knot
Tying.
